THE 1739 QUESTION DECIDED AT THE PAGE (2026-08-26): the Drakenstein marriage register's own entry — 'Jacobus Joosten van Cabo de Goede Hoop, Burger aan Drakensteyn, J.M. en Magdalena RAATS van Cabo voornd. J.D.', entry 31, 11 October 1739 — read letter by letter on the page's open photograph, converging with the Drakenstein Heemkring's published transcription (verbatim, predikant Salomon van Echten named) and the 1785 Tulbagh witness line. The G8 bride was MAGDALENA RAATS; the printed line's 'Rooy' (De Villiers 1894 → the 1945 column; reprinted in Pama's 1966 revision) is a transcription error near 130 years old in print. He married as J.M. — a young man, his first marriage. On the same page, two entries up: a THERON marriage (Thomas Arnoldus Theron × Elizabeth du Plessis, 27 September 1739)

- origin: NGK Drakenstein marriage register ('Personen in den Huwelyken Staat bevestigd door Predekant Salomon van Echten'), page 34, entry 31; the register's archival film is FamilySearch 008121003 (Paarl parish set — the film-internal image for p34 not yet located; a lawful vendor of the page waits there)
- method: The photograph read at full resolution by the agent's eye, the surname's letters zoomed and read (R-a-a-t-s, unmistakable); the reading checked letter-for-letter against the Drakenstein Heemkring's published transcription (CD-ROM 2006, quoted verbatim in the FFY citation [S470]); the 1785 Tulbagh witness line (SRC-2026-086, the agent's eye at the register page) the third register-derived attestation
- intermediary: NO image vendored (the photograph is a private collection's, in copyright; the FFY terms forbid copying). The reading, the verbatim transcription quote, and the primary's archival address are the item; the film image of p34, once located in film 008121003, becomes the lawful vendored copy
